Cognitive Development Group

Background
Executive functioning refers to the use of cognitive skills that are essential in our daily living. After a brain injury, individuals sometimes experience difficulties with:
• Attention (Sustaining/dividing/)
• Thought processing speed (Multi-tasking)
• Memory problems (short term/long term).
• Communication (difficulty with comprehension/ difficulty detecting main ideas or separating details from main ideas), etc.

Purpose
The VCBIS Cognitive Development Group aims at providing its participants with the opportunity to work on the development of their cognitive skills through their participation in activities and completion of cognitive oriented material presented and facilitated by a staff member in a motivating and dynamic group environment.

The VCBIS Cognitive Development Group sessions are facilitated online, during a twelve- week period, at a rate of one meeting per week. The duration of each Cognitive Development session is 90 minutes.
