Family Guides

BrainTrust Canada has developed two (2) guide books to assist family members and loved ones through the difficult phases of rehabilitation:

Family Guide to the Critical Phase of Brain Injury

Family Guide to the Rehabilitation Phase of Brain Injury

These guides are intended to be a general resource for families. Specific protocols may vary depending on location and nature of injury.

The following handbook for families was produced by the health care team of the Acquired Brain Injury Program, Hamilton Health Sciences, Hamilton, Ontario.

It looks at the effects of brain injury on a person and his or her family. The handbook helps the family understand what happens after a brain injury and how rehabilitation works. It also looks at what to expect in the future. Most importantly, it gives suggestions for dealing with problems that may arise.
